BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the demand at a discussion, just hours after the party announced its mayoral candidate for the city on Tuesday.
“We definitely want army deployment for the sake of fair election. The army needs to work as a strike force. Because it is already known as godfather’s city.”
“The people of Narayanganj will not vote for the godfather if they get a proper election environment. So we strongly demand army deployment during the election.”
The election scheduled for Dec 22 will be held in party line for the first time. The deadline for submitting nominations was on Dec 1.
