Finance Minister AMA Muhith presented a Tk 3 trillion budget on Thursday with a revenue earning target of Tk 2 trillion.
Economists have dubbed the target ‘ambitious’ while businesses fear it will put additional tax burden on them.
But NBR Chairman Md Nojibur Rahman differed at a post-budget press conference on Friday in Muhith’s presence.
“Even businessmen do not think they have been burdened with extra tax. Because the budget has been prepared after discussions with business organisations,” he said.
“Therefore, the businessmen have a clear idea about the revenue target and source.”
