Mahmudul to head hearing panel

BySports Correspondent

Justice Choudhury confirmed to the Supreme Court Correspondent of bdnews24.com on Wednesday that he had accepted the BCB proposal to chair the committee.

The panel, which will have at least another 10 members, will later form a three-member tribunal that will hold the right to punish the accused if found guilty.

The International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) spotted nine bookies involved in malpractices in the second edition of BPL. It issued letters stating the charges to each of the accused on Tuesday.

However, their names were not disclosed to the media.
Those charged have two weeks to plead guilty or defend themselves before an anti-corruption tribunal. The disciplinary committee will start its work after that, the ICC said in a statement earlier.
The charges, which followed an investigation carried out by the ACSU, relate to an alleged conspiracy within the Dhaka Gladiators franchise to engage in match-fixing and spot-fixing during the tournament, as well as failures by individuals to report approaches made to them to be involved in the conspiracy.
