Tofail visiting India

He is the first Bangladeshi minister visiting India since the Jan 5 polls.

According to the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, Additional Secretary Murtoza Reza Chowdhury is accompanying him.

During the visit, he will meet Indian commerce minister Anand Sharma as well other important functionaries.

The two sides are expected to discuss means of further improving trade relations between the two countries in the bilateral as well as the SAARC framework.

In November 2011, India granted duty-free, quota-free access to all but 25 items from Bangladesh.

Since then, Bangladesh’s exports to India have registered a 13.5 percent growth in the 2012-13 fiscal year, and the total volume of bilateral trade stands at USD 5.34 billion now.
