Thousands in Bangladesh pray for Hajj stampede victims at Eid-ul-Azha congregation

On Thursday, over 700 pilgrims were killed in a stampede outside Makkah in the worst Hajj disaster in 25 years.

At least four Bangladesh nationals are said to be among those killed in the mishap that occurred when pilgrims were heading to Jamarat for the ‘stoning of the devil’ ritual.

President Md Abdul Hamid, Supreme Court justices, Cabinet and Parliament members, various politicians took part in the prayers on Friday along with ordinary citizens at the National Eidgah.

Baitul Mukarram National Mosque’s senior most Imam Mohammad Mizanur Rahman began the prayers at 8am.

Devotees held up their hands, praying for the stampede victims and seeking prosperity, solidarity among the followers of Islam across the world.
