“We should not bow our heads before anyone,” said Huda to Comilla City Corporation election officials ahead of the forthcoming elections. “No one should be spared. You may think of this as an order.”
No one can be allowed to disrupt law, regardless of who they are, he said. He also warned that any effort at disruption would be met harshly.
Polling centres have only one person of influence - the presiding officer, he said, and there is no place for any other.
Election Commission Secretary Mohammad Abdullah, Additional Secretary Mukhlesur Rahman, Comilla Deputy Commissioner Jahangir Alam and Superintendent of Police Shah Abid Hossain also spoke at the event.
Comilla City Corporation Election Returning Officer Rakib Uddin Mandul was also present.
The Comilla City Corporation elections are scheduled for Mar 30.
