Constable Humayun Kabir, from RAB-13, was arrested along with four of his accomplices by RAB-11 at noon on Saturday.
The other arrestees are ‘Shahida’, 45, Md Amzad, 32, Md Mahbub Islam, 30 and Md Hasanuzzaman, 24.
They were caught while trying to extort Tk 100,000 from one Md Mohsin, RAB-11 commander Anwar Latif Khan told bdnews24.com.
“Humayun had already taken Tk 350,000 from Mohsin and was supposed to receive another Tk 100,000 today (Saturday).”
RAB-11 personnel were already deployed at the location when Humayun arrived there to collect the money.
He and his accomplices were handed over to Sonargaon Police Station.
