The 45-year old’s remains were found in the river at Sadar Upazila on Wednesday afternoon, said Sadar police OC Md Yunus Ali.
He said Sajib’s wife Morsheda Begum identified her husband’s body afterwards.
“There were no injuries in Sajib’s body. We came to know that he ‘jumped off’ a Chandpur-bound launch on Dec 20,” he said.
The body was later sent to Munshiganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
Sajib’s younger brother Radin Ahmed told bdnews24.com, “My brother was not someone who would commit suicide. He had no enemies either.”
The journalist had been working as the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) correspondent for daily Bangladesh Pratidin, and private TV stations Banglavision, Somoy, Jamuna, and Independent Television before he went missing on Sunday.
After his disappearance, wife Begum filed a general diary (GD) with Shahbagh police on Monday, said OC Abu Bakar Siddique.
According to the complaint, Sajib went off the radar after leaving his house at Chawkbazar in Old Dhaka for work on Sunday morning.
His two mobile phones and journalist’s ID card were found on the launch, ‘MV Takwa’.
