Four BCSIR officials in Chittagong get death threat over phone
Two general diaries (GD) were made at the Bayazid Bostami Police Station on Friday night in this connection.
BCSIR scientific officer Ashraful Kabir said calls were made to the four officials’ within an hour from the same phone number on Friday morning.
Kabir is one of those threatened.
The others are Chief Scientific Officer Habibur Rahman Bhuiyan and Nimai Chandra Nandi, and Senior Scientific Officer Nazrul Islam.
Kabir said, “The calls were made between 11am and 12:30pm from the number 01767052401. The caller verbally abused, demanded money and threatened to kill us if the money was not paid.”
He said he and Islam lodged the GDs the same day.
Bayazid Bostami police OC Mohammad Mohsin said they were investigating the matter.
