Gazi Rois Uddin, 55, was murdered at the Upazila’s Dholoitola village around 5pm on Saturday, said Lohagarha Police Station OC Md Kamruzzaman.
Kamruzzaman said the assailants attacked Rois Uddin, the former joint general secretary of the BNP’s Kotakol Union unit, with sharp weapons in front the house of one ‘Nannu’. He died on the spot.
The murder could be the result of some previous enmity, police suspect.
The OC added that police were out to capture the killers and determine the motive of the crime.
