Bangladesh, India to remove Pakistan’s name from border pillars

Bangladesh and India have moved to remove from the pillars along their borders the name of Pakistan 47 years after the Liberation War.

The Border Guard Bangladesh or BGB and India’s Border Security Force or BSF held a meeting on the issue at Chanduria border in Satkhira on Thursday, BGB 33 Battalion commander Lt Col Mohammad Golam Mohiuddin Khandaker told bdnews24.com.

They discussed a proposal to write “Bangladesh/BD” in place of “Pakistan/PAK” on the border pillars along the Satkhira borders, he said.  

Bijoy Demri, the acting commandant of 76 Battalion, on the other side of the border headed the BSF delegation.
