17 dead, 35 injured as bus hits road divider in Uttar Pradesh

At least 17 people have been killed and 35 injured after a bus hit road divider and overturned at Manipur district in Uttar Pradesh.

The accident has been reported from district’s Kiratpur village around 5 am on Wednesday. The bus was travelling from Jaipur in Rajasthan to Uttar Pradesh’s Farukkhabad, Scroll.in reported. 

Initial investigation suggests the driver of a private tourist bus lost control and crashed into a road divider. The collision led to the bus being overturned, according to the NDTV report.

It has been said in NDTV report that the driver of the bus was speeding when the vehicle hit the road divider and overturned.

The dead have yet to identify immediately. 

Those injured have been taken to nearby hospitals.Three of those injured are in a critical condition and were admitted to Safai hospital in Etawah district, said Mainpuri District Magistrate Pradeep Kumar.

The driver of the bus was also injured and currently being treated at a hospital, he said.
