Police said supporters of two BNP leaders clashed in Fatepur village on Saturday.

Modon will vote on Mar 23 during the fourth phase of the Upazila Parishad election.

Menu Miah, 38, was a supporter for Rafikul Islam Akhand, a renegade who was expelled from BNP because he decided to contest against BNP-backed candidate MA Hares.

The two rival groups started arguing over tearing of campaign posters, said Modon Police OC SM Mofizul Islam.
Rois Uddin, BNP’s Fatepur Union unit president, is a supporter of MA Hares.
His followers clashed with supporters of party’s General Secretary Haidar Miah, who is backing renegade Akhand for the chairman post.
Bullets fired from Rois Uddin’s home, while under attack by supporters for MA Hares, injured Menu Miah and four other unidentified people.
Menu Miah was first taken to Modon Upazila Health Complex but was transferred to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital when his condition worsened.
He died there at noon, said Haider.
