The operators say Apple Inc has not updated necessary software for access to fourth-generation internet services in Bangladesh.

Sarwar Alam, the secretary to the regulators BTRC, said they are aware of the matter. “We hope it will be resolved very soon,” he added.

A top official of an operator told bdnews24.com iPhone users in the country will not be able to access 4G network unlike those in other countries that already have 4G network until Apple updates carrier patch of its phones.

“The Apple authorities will update the carrier patch once we confirm them about the launch,” he said and added they has already spoken to Apple officials who said it would take ‘some time’ to update the patch.

There is no official data on iPhone users in Bangladesh, but an official of a telecom firm said it is over 1.5 million.
