10-man Bangladesh beat Nepal to top SAFF U-15 Football Championship group

Bangladesh have edged hosts Nepal 2-1 in their second match of the SAFF U-15 Football Championship in Kathmandu.

With Monday’s win at the ANFA Complex ground, they top the group A with 6 points from two consecutive victories.

Bangladesh will face Group B runners-up India in the semifinals on Thursday.

In their first match, Bangladesh thrashed Maldives 9-0, ensuring a spot in the semifinals.

On Monday, Md Ibne Ahad Shakil scored from a superbly taken free kick taken by Mohammad Mehedi Hasan. In 21st minute, Nepal squandered a great chance to equalise but Napas Thapa Magar missed an easy header.

In the 34th minute, goalkeeper Mitul Hasan was sent off for a foul within the box, reducing the team to 10. Jaan Limbu scored the equaliser from the resultant penalty kick.

In the second minute of the second half, Rajon Howladar found the net with a perfect placing shot from a cut back to put his team in the lead again.
