Midfielder Shamsunnahar scored four goals; Tahura Khatun, Sajeda Khatun and Anai Mogini two each; and Monica Chakma, Maria Manda, Ankhi Khatun and defender Shamsunnahar one apiece for the reigning champions at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu on Thursday.

Tahura opened the goal fest in the fifth minute and headed home the third one for her team two minutes after Monica scored the second in the 17th minute.

Defender Shamsunnahar extended the lead when the Pakistan goalkeeper failed to parry her long-range effort from outside the box in the 31st minute.

Captain Maria’s goal in the 39th minute and defender Ankhi’s strike in the next minute meant Bangladesh went into the break sitting pretty with a 6-0.

That would not bring any respite for the Pakistanis, though, when the game resumed. Bangladesh came out with more attacking intent to continue the mayhem and put eight past their hapless opponents.

Midfielder Shamsunnahar earned her deserved hat-trick after Sajeda’s first goal.

After Sajeda's second, Anai completed her brace before midfielder Shamsunnahar scored her fourth in the 90th minute.

India, who lost the final match to Bangladesh last year, drubbed Sri Lanka 12-0 in the tournament opener Group A match.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka are playing the tournament for the first time.

Bangladesh will play their second Group B match on Monday against Nepal, who they had thumped 6-0 on way to winning the inaugural championship

The team of Coach Golam Rabbani Chhoton went on to win another four-nation championship held in Hong Kong earlier this year.
