Bangladesh Football Federation General Secretary Abu Naeem Sohag said on Wednesday the 37-year-old coach will take charge from the beginning of next month.

“He has been handed the responsibility of the national team in an unanimous decision at Wednesday’s meeting of the National Teams Committee,” Abu Naeem said.

Thailand’s BEC Tero Sasana recruited him in late 2010 to take charge of their under 21 team. He then was appointed the coach of another Thai club Muangthong United’s B team in 2012.

Later in 2013, he returned to Australia and joined Perth Glory as assistant coach to Kenny Lowe.

In his playing career, he played in two semi-professional clubs as a central defender.

Andrew replaces Belgian coach Tom Saintfiet who was sacked after Bangladesh’s disastrous campaign in the World Cup qualifiers.
