The Bangladeshi pair beat Iranian duo Norouziyan Pourya and Najmeh Khedmati 5-1 in the deciding round on Sunday to earn Bangladesh their first-ever gold in shooting in the competition at Azerbaijan capital Baku.

Both Baki and Atkia put up a subpar show in the individual 10-metre air rifle event on Saturday. But they made amends in the mixed team event with Baki scoring 258.5 and Atkia 258.3 to move into the final round as third with a total of 516.8 points.

Turkish shooters Omer Akgun and Seymanur Koca grabbed bronze.

The other Bangladeshi pair, Rabbi Hasan Munna and Mahfuja Jannat Jui, ended up sixth in the final round.

On Saturday, Rabbi took silver in the men’s 10-metre air rifle event to win the first medal for Bangladesh in the fourth edition of the games.
