The unseeded tandem of Nathalie Dechy and Vera Zvonareva bested the eighth-seeded duo of Dinara Safina and Katarina Srebotnik on Sunday to capture the women's doubles title at the U.S. Open.

New York, Sep 11 (bdnews24.com) - The unseeded tandem of Nathalie Dechy and Vera Zvonareva bested the eighth-seeded duo of Dinara Safina and Katarina Srebotnik on Sunday to capture the women's doubles title at the U.S. Open.
Dechy of France and the Russian Zvonareva won in straight sets, 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 in a little over 1 1/2 hours. Dechy earned her second-career doubles title while Zvonareva won her fourth career doubles championship and second of the season.
The Russian Safina and Slovenia's Katarina Srebotnik both failed to earn their third doubles title of the season. Srebotnik owns 13 doubles championships in her career.
