He demanded action after investigation into the attacks on the leaders and activists of the alliance in a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda on Monday.

“We will not boycott voting even if I die. They (Oikya Front) will carry my body to the polling station and use my fingertip to vote if I die,” Dr Kamal told the media after around two and a half hours of meeting with the CEC.

“The election must be held. We will not do it (boycott) despite the despicable attacks,” he added.

He alleged the candidates of the alliance were being barred from campaigning for the Dec 30 elections.

“A state of terror has been created everywhere. But the government will be wrong to think that it will make us boycott the election by doing these. We’ve asked the commission to take action after getting the investigation report within two days,” the Oikya Front chief said.

He also claimed never before had he seen such an election atmosphere.

Dr Kamal, who heads the Gono Forum party, threatened fresh protests if the commission cannot stop the harassments.

“The EC can’t feel embarrassed. It must take quick action,” he said.
