“We were castigated when we made the Digital Security Act. And now Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has filed a GD over fake IDs in his name. Now he has realised how necessary the law is,” Mustafa Jabbar remarked at an event in Gazipur on Friday.
“There is no doubt that the more the digital world expands, the more intense crimes will become and the more the need for the Digital Security Act will be felt,” the minister added.
He said Facebook authorities help the government remove fake IDs when such accounts are reported.
“But we will not be dependent only on Facebook. I hope we will achieve the capacity to tackle these problems ourselves by mid-November,” he added.
Jabbar spoke about the issue at the inauguration of a mobile phone assembling factory of a company named Five-Star Mobile Phone at Chhoydana.
Its Chairman Md Oliullah said the 20,000 square feet plant will create 500 jobs and produce around 2 million handsets annually.
