When the rally reached Karwan Bazar's SAARC Fountain, the police prevented them. When the activists tried to move forward by ignoring the barriers, the police used batons to disperse them.

“Police attacked us without any provocation,” Communist Party of Bangladesh leader Abdullah Al Kafi Ratan told bdnews24.com.

General Secretary of the Biplobi Workers Party or Revolutionary Workers Party of Bangladesh Saiful Haque, Chief Coordinator of Gono Songhoti Andolon Junaid Saki and CPB’s Women Cell Member Luna Noor were injured in the police action, according to Ratan.
