In one of the complaints to Returning Officer Rakib Uddin Mondol on Monday, Hasan’s chief electoral agent Sohrab Uddin provided a list of BNP leaders and activists reportedly arrested on false charges.

In the other complaint, the BNP candidate alleged police were searching houses of Hasan’s supporters to harass them.

“We are concerned about the Election Commission’s role in creating a level playing field for fair election,” Hasan wrote in both complaints.

He alleged police made a list of his agents and supporters to create panic by harassing and

threatening them.

Hasan also alleged local leaders of ruling Awami League were harassing his supporters as well but the law enforcers remained silent.

He urged the commission to act and prove its neutrality.

Returning Officer Rakib said they were taking cognisance of any complaint and informing the relevant authorities.

He said the commission wrote to Gazipur Superintendent of Police Harunur Rashid on Sunday, reminding the law enforcers that no innocent people can be harassed.
