The government forced Khaleda to live a miserable life, said BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

The room allocated for Khaleda in the jailhouse is a breeding ground for diseases and far from liveable, Rizvi said at a media conference in Dhaka on Wednesday, citing Khaleda’s relatives who visited the BNP chairperson a day earlier.

“The walls of the room are infested with insects. Living in such a place is like living in hell,” he said.

“Insects are making her life more miserable,” he said adding that Khaleda suffered insect bites.

Rizvi said Khaleda’s cough was worsening due to the damp room and dust.

He alleged the jail authorities were denying Khaleda orthopaedic mattress and MRI test though the medical board formed by the government had recommended these.

“The jail authorities are making Khaleda suffer to feed the government’s vengeance and anger,” he said.

“And they are executing the government plan to put her life in danger,” he added.
