“We are worried about it,” Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told a press conference at Khaleda’s Gulshan office on Saturday night.
According to him, the jail authorities allowed the members of Khaleda’s family to see her for the last time last Friday.
“They have been denying permission to see her despite repeated requests since then,” Mirza Fakhrul said.
He said the jail authorities were citing security reasons to stop Khaleda’s relatives from seeing her.
He also said the party tried to get information on Khaleda’s health, but could not.
Khaleda has been in the old jailhouse on Naziimuddin Road in Dhaka since Feb 8 when a court sentenced her to five years in jail for corruption.
The Appellate Division has heard petitions challenging her bail granted by the High Court. The top court is scheduled to give an order on the case on Tuesday.
