BNP announces three-day programme to mark Independence Day

The BNP has announced a three-day programme, including a discussion and a rally, to mark Independence Day.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir rolled out the programme from a media briefing at the party’s central office in Dhaka.

As part of the plan, the BNP standing committee members and its senior leaders will pay tributes to the martyrs of the Liberation War by placing wreaths at the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar at 9am on Mar 26, on behalf of Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

Later in the day, they will place wreaths at the grave of the late BNP founder Ziaur Rahman at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital at 11am.

In addition, the BNP will hoist national and party flags atop its offices, including its headquarters, in the morning. 

The party offices will also be illuminated. It will also publish supplements and organise essay competitions among students to celebrate the day. 

Besides, the BNP will bring out an Independence Day rally from its central office on Mar 27. It will also organise a discussion at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh in the city on Mar 31.

Jatiyatabadi Samajik and Sangskritik Sangstha, the cultural affairs wing of BNP, will organise an event in the evening.
