Awami League delegation meets Congress party leaders in India

An Awami League delegation has met with top leaders of the Congress in New Delhi during the 84th plenary session of the oldest political party of India

The Awami League delegation, led by Presidium Member Muhammad Abdur Razzaque, joined the Congress’ plenary session on Saturday.

Awami League Joint General Secretary Dipu Moni and Deputy Office Secretary Biplab Barua are also in the delegation.

Biplab told bdnews24.com over phone that they met Congress President Rahul Gandhi, former party president and Rahul’s mother Sonia Gandhi, former prime minister Manmohan Singh, and Congress leader Anand Sharma on the sidelines of the session.

The Awami League leaders conveyed AL chief Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s greetings to the Congress leaders, Biplab said.

“Rahul Gandhi has said the Congress has a longstanding relationship with the Awami League. He lauded Bangladesh’s ongoing development and efforts in tackling militancy,” Biplab said.

Another Awami League delegation to be led by General Secretary Obaidul Quader will visit India from Apr 21 to 27 on invitation from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.
