The other arrested BNP leader is National Executive Committee Member Nazimuddin Alam.

A member of Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Advisory Council, Aman was detained in his home at Mohakhali DOHS in Dhaka around 9:30pm along with Alam, the party’s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi told bdnews24.com.

RAB spokesperson Mufti Mahmud Khan told bdnews24.com they were showing the duo arrested in one of the cases started over last Tuesday's attack on the law enforcers.

The arrests came a day before the over 500-strong Executive Committee is set to meet Khaleda ahead of the Feb 8 verdict on a graft case against her.

A group of BNP leaders and activists stormed a police prison van and snatched away two detained fellows during a demonstration when Khaleda was returning home after attending the hearing on another graft case last week.

“The law enforcers are arresting our leaders in a deplorable manner just before the Executive Committee meeting. I demand their immediate release,” Rizvi said.

The BNP claims the law-enforcing agencies have arrested over 275 leaders and activists, including Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Aninda Islam Amit, an assistant organising secretary, and Information Affairs Secretary Azizul Bari Helal, over the attack.
