The party’s Presidium Member and Ershad’s Political and Press Affairs Secretary Sunil Shuvo Roy said in a statement that Asif was expelled for violating the 'party rules and Ershad’s orders.'
The statement warned the other leaders and activists of the party that they would also lose posts if they worked for Asif.
Asif, son of Ershad’s brother Mozammel Hossain Lalu, was a joint secretary general of the party.
He told bdnews24.com that he was not thinking about the party decision on his removal now.
“I will take part in the election,” he added.
