Quader said at a programme at Dhaka University on Thursday that Inu "knows what would happen if the JaSoD went to the polls without the Awami League".

"We shouldn't disclose it. We will discuss his anger at party and government fora. There is nothing to worry about," the Awami League leader said.

Inu-led Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal won three seats after taking part in the 2008 elections as an ally of the Awami League in the Grand Alliance. Inu became information minister by the end of that term.

JaSoD won five seats in the 2014 election boycotted by the BNP and he retained his portfolio in Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government.

On Wednesday, JaSoD President Inu expressed ire over Awami League leaders' comment on the ruling coalition partners' contribution to election victories.

He said the Awami League would not come to power without its partners in a thousand years.

"You (Awami League) may be 80 paisa, but you will not get power until you become 1 full taka. You become 1 taka only when Ershad, Dilip Barua, Menon and Inu join you," Inu said.

On Thursday, in reaction to Inu's comments, Quader said, "Mr Inu let all his emotion, anger out. Why this emotion? He also knows what would be the result if they go to election without the Awami League. We saw it earlier."

"You are our partners. We will go the election together. "

Quader, the road transport and bridges minister, criticised the BNP for "clashing at their programmes".

"That's why even police are afraid of giving them permission to organise rally," he said.

Quader added that the government was "cooperating" with the BNP to let it organise political programmes.

He also said police gave the BNP permission to organise a rally at the Suhrawardy Udyan.

"You'll get it officially. And that's how the government is cooperating with you," he said.
