Shannon visited Khaleda at her Gulshan office on Monday morning and spent an hour there, said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

“They discussed the topics in detail,” Fakhrul told reporters after attending the meeting.

To a query, Fakhrul said the meeting turned out to be fruitful and talks also focused on the upcoming general elections. But the senior leader refused to give further details on the talks on the elections.

Shannon led a five-member delegation to the meeting, but did not speak to the media. US Ambassador Marcia Bernicat was not present at the meeting.

Shannon arrived in Dhaka on Saturday on a three-day official visit. He met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganabhaban on Sunday.
