Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir told bdnews24.com on Saturday night that their leader would reach Dhaka in an Emirates Airlines flight at 5:30pm on the day.

Earlier in the morning, the BNP secretary general said Khaleda would return 'this week'.

Former prime minister Khaleda has been in London since July 15 for treatment. She is staying at her elder son Tarique Rahman's home.

BNP Senior Vice Chairman Tarique has been living in the UK since 2008.

Khaleda has always met him in London after he had moved from Dhaka, where he faces trials in a number of cases and has been convicted of money laundering.

Early last month, senior BNP leader Alamgir said that the party chief would return to the country in the second week of September.

But later, BNP's UK chapter leader MA Malek said that her return had been delayed as she was taking treatment for her leg following her eye surgery.

Ruling Awami League leaders, however, claim that Khaleda is staying in London to 'conspire against the Sheikh Hasina administration'.

Last week courts in Dhaka and Comilla issued arrest warrants for Khaleda in three cases over corruption and arson attack.

The BNP described the court orders as a ploy by the government to stop her from coming back.
