Its Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan said the Rohingyas were 'killed and tortured' along the border, and even their gunships crossed Bangladesh airspace apparently to monitor mass exodus from the trouble-torn Rakhine State.

"Even their crops are looted. Myanmar is violating Bangladesh's airspace repeatedly due to the incapacity of the government," he said at a demonstration in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka on Monday.

"What's the reason behind your remaining in power if you can't prevent anything? Only for looting (the country)?" Nazrul Islam asked.

He also criticised the government for blocking the BNP convoy of relief for the Rohingya refugees.

"The Rohingya refugees were deprived of the aid they deserved. Who will answer the questions over their misery?" he threw another question.

The BNP leader said he saw many political parties, social or cultural or religious organisations, but no member of the Awami League or its partners in the ruling coalition distributing relief materials among the refugees in Cox's Bazar.

"They only give big speeches," he said, and demanded the government give everyone the opportunity to help the Rohingyas "because it alone cannot provide humanitarian aid to the refugees".
