Khaleda condemned the government’s failure to make any arrest after the attacks.

“By contrast, our men get sued and arrested immediately after something happens, despite having no involvement,” she said at an Iftar party on Sunday.

Khaleda said the attack “proves the Awami League is carrying out all the terrorist activities and sabotages across the country”.

“They must be arrested, punished, jailed. I want justice for this.”

She also said the attack was an ‘example of insecurity of people’.

The BNP chief alleged that people were coming under attack every now and then but no-one gets arrested.

Mirza Fakhrul’s motorcade came under attack in Rangunia’s Ichhakhali when he was on his way to Rangamati to visit the areas devastated by landslides.

Local Awami League MP Hasan Mahmud’s followers carried out the attacks, alleged BNP’s Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, who was also in the motorcade.

Denying the allegation, Hasan Mahmud said the attackers were “local people, not Awami League men”. He claimed that the locals were “agitated by injury of two after being hit by BNP leaders’ cars”.
