BNP leader Moudud Ahmed accuses former chief justice Khairul Haque of betraying country

The BNP leader was speaking at a programme of the Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal on Thursday.

“The then chief justice in his short order on May 10, 2011 said it was imperative to hold tenth and eleventh parliamentary elections under caretaker government. After seven days of issuing that order, he retired,” Moudud said.

“In the full verdict, which he gave sixteen months after retirement, he deleted one word from the short order.”

“As the chief justice, how could he change his own order?” the former law minister questioned.

“A question has also been raised now whether a judge can write judgement sixteen months after going into retirement. This question has been raised by incumbent Chief Justice SK Sinha.”

Moudud, a barrister by training, further alleged that Justice Khairul Haque “deceived the country” to achieve a “sleazy political goal.”

“By doing this, he has not only betrayed his conscience, but the entire nation. One day he will have to face trial for this grievous crime,” the BNP leader said.

He also accused the government of trying to destroy all “democratic forces” in the country.
