She entered the courtroom set up near Bakshibazar’s Alia Madrasa around 10:35am on Thursday amidst tight security measures.

The former prime minister is accused of being involved in siphoning off Tk 52.5 million funds from the charities.

Her Press Secretary Maruf Kamal Khan said her convoy set off from her Gulshan residence around 9:50am.

Khaleda last appeared before the court on May 25. Judge Abu Ahmed Jamaddar turned down a petition by her defence to scrap the plaintiff’s testimonies, but gave them more than 20 days to prepare for the hearing.

Her counsel Taherul Islam Touhid said they would be informing the court that they have moved the High Court seeking scrapping of the plaintiff’s deposition in the Zia Orphanage Trust Case, which is pending hearing.

They would be seeking a stay in the hearings of the two cases at the trial court citing their High Court move.

ACC Director Harun-Ur-Rashid, the plaintiff of both cases, gave his deposition at court on May 25 in the Zia Charitable Trust graft case and had deposed in the orphanage trust graft case earlier.

However, Khaleda’s lawyers did not grill him in any of the cases.
