Savar, Dec 10 (bdnews24.com) -- Chief adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed Monday launched the First SAARC Youth Camp in Savar and urged young people to engage more in nation-building.
The interim government head said the youth camp was an indication of SAARC's determination to connect the "minds and hearts" of South Asian people.
"This youth camp is an indication of SAARC's determination to ... generate greater cohesion and understanding and bridge the gap that may still exist in the mindsets of regional countries," he said in his written statement.
"It is aimed at bringing the young people of South Asia under one roof, thereby creating an environment for closer interaction among those very people who will lead us to face the challenges of the new millennium," he said.
Foreign affairs adviser Ifthekhar Ahmed Chowdhury and youth participants Saugat Das from India and Nazmus Sadat from the host country also spoke at the function at the National Youth Centre in Savar.
