Anti-imperialism Solidarity Day to be observed on Jan 1

Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) president Manjurul Ahsan Khan and acting general secretary Md Shah Alam urged all to observe the Anti-imperialism Day on January 1 to express solidarity with the anti-imperialism movement being waged across the world.
Dhaka, Dec 31 (BDNEWS) – Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) president Manjurul Ahsan Khan and acting general secretary Md Shah Alam urged all to observe the Anti-imperialism Day on January 1 to express solidarity with the anti-imperialism movement being waged across the world.
The CPB leaders in a statement on Saturday said the sovereignty and national economy of the countries across the world are now in jeopardy in the face of the US aggression.
The USA and its subservient organisations the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) are destroying the national economy of Bangladesh in the name of providing different kinds of loans and through agreements.
Processions were brought out at the call of the DUCSU and Bangladesh Chhatra Union (BCU) in the capital in 1973 on January 1 protesting the barbaric bombings on Vietnam by the USA.
Two leaders of the BCU Motiul Islam and Mirza Kaderul Islam were killed as police opened fire on the procession. Since then the day has been observed as the Anti-imperialism Solidarity Day, the statement said.
Different socio-political organisations including Left Democratic Front, CPB, BCU have taken up elaborate programmes to mark the day.
The CPB will pay tribute to Motiul and Kader by placing wreaths at the Motiul-Kader memorial at 8 am.
Besides, it will also bring out a procession followed by a discussion in front of the CPB office at 3 pm.
