BDR-BSF meet successful: Relief in Khagrachhari, Chapainawabganj, Panchagarh

Relief has returned to border areas against the backdrop of an ongoing successful meeting between BDR and BSF at Agartala in Tripura. Already meetings at sector commander level in Khagrachhari, Chapainawabganj and Panchagarh are being held.

Dhaka, Mar 16 (BDNEWS) – Relief has returned to border areas against the backdrop of an ongoing successful meeting between BDR and BSF at Agartala in Tripura. Already meetings at sector commander level in Khagrachhari, Chapainawabganj and Panchagarh are being held.
BDNEWS Khagrachhari correspondent reports: the battalion level meeting between BDR and BSF would be held at Dargapara in Ramgarh border area Thursday at 11 am.
BDR sources said, an understanding may be reached on the building of barbed wire fences on undisputed land, though barbed wire fences built by BSF in populated areas often encroach on the no man's land.
Meanwhile, a sanction against all vehicular movement on Ramgarh-Ayodhya road is in force. Since the outbreak of tension, two primary schools of Chhoto Kheda and Nitai Boishnab Karbari remain closed.
BDNEWS Chapainawabganj correspondent adds: a sector commander level meeting between BDR and BSF was held Wednesday at Sona Masjid Border Out Post.
BDR sources said, the seven-member BDR delegation was led by Rajshahi sector commander Col Shahid Sarwar Azam and the nine-member BSF delegation was led by its DIG.
The meeting was dominated by such issues as border conflicts, erecting of barbed wire fences, smuggling etc.
Harunur Rashid, deputy assistant director of the 6th Rifles battalion told BDNEWS, the meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere.
Till the filing of this report, the outcome of the meeting has not been made public.
BDNEWS Panchagarh correspondent reports: a sector commander level flag meeting between BDR and BSF was held Wednesday at Bilondopur Government. Primary School of Uttar Dinajpur in India.
BDR sources said, BSF agreed to allow Bangladesh to build an embankment on the Nagar river on certain conditions.
Besides, the issues of peaceful co-existence, building of barbed wire fence, push-in, smuggling and so on came up for discussion in the meeting.
The delegations were respectively led by Dinajpur sector commander of BDR Col Qazi Kaisaruddin and DIG of BSF RP Chilo Kothi.
