The actor had previously been diagnosed with a severe case of jaundice after he cancelled a trip to Chandigarh for a shoot and remained in Mumbai for appropriate treatment, reported the Deccan Chronicle.

However, the 51-year-old actor issued an official statement saying he suffers from a ‘rare disease’ and will share details when it is diagnosed properly.

He requested that his fans not ‘speculate’ about his death or prolonged illness in a Twitter post.

“My family and friends are with me and we are working it out the best way possible. In trying times, please don't speculate as I will myself share with you my story within a week - ten days, when the further investigations come with a conclusive diagnosis. Till then, wish the best for me,” the Twitter post said.

An actor famous for his portrayal of versatile roles, Khan recently acted as the protagonist in the Bengali film ‘Doob,’ which many believe is based on the life of famous Bangladeshi writer Humayun Ahmed.
