What did you want to be when you were a child?
When I was a child I wanted to be someone new as soon as I started studying in a new class. However deep down I knew I would stick with art because I grew up in the theatre world. My father was a theatre actor first then became a theatre and film director. He is still a film director & producer.
And because of my father, I never wanted to be a doctor or an engineer like the other kids in my class.
My father is my idol. I have always wanted to be like him.
So how have you become an actor?
Acting is in my blood— my father is a stage actor. But instead of acting, he has built. And I wanted to be a classical dancer. So I started practicing classical dance when I was three years old. Then I was in some ads. I started getting offers to work in films when I was in grade seven.
But fate will bring you what you should have. I did my first play in class 6. I used to be in plays since childhood but I was not at all serious. Now I feel as though I was born to be an actor.
You are also a writer and poet. Tell us something about your writing journey.
I have been writing since i was little. I said that I wanted to be like my father. My writing used to get printed in the school magazine. And my first novel "Gulnahar" was published in 2018, since then I have written four novels and two poetry books.
I love to write. I try to translate my thoughts in my writings, poems and paintings. I believe poetry is a very powerful medium of art.
To what extent do you think an artist needs to be socially responsible?
My biggest responsibility as an artist is to go on practising art. However, my words are clear in my writing, work and painting.
In my movies I don't act only in romantic scenes. I work on stories when I act as a character. You will understand it if you watch my films. I actually speak with my work. My work is my word.
What are your future plans?
There are many actually. I want to see myself as an irreplaceable actor. I want to be a great artist. I want to do a lot of work. I want to do my country proud. The people of Bangladesh love me a lot and are proud of me. I want to give it back to them.
