The 53-year-old American music legend gave goose bumps to his fans of all ages by rendering his classic numbers from the 80s and 90s.
With the signature husky voice and a gentle grin, the artiste appeared on stage of much-awaited “Richard Marx Live in Dhaka” around 7:30pm, took up the guitar and started wooing the audience with most of his classic ballads one after another.
The charismatic, humble musician was in his element – crooning to adoring fans and interacting with them by making them sing back lines from his popular tracks.
“I do not know what the rules are here but I have been told that there won’t be many rules. So let’s just make it fun. Sing along…dance…” he told the fans.
The evening went dreamy, musical as well as romantic with crazy fans screaming “I love you Richard” and the singer shouting back “I love you too!”
Bangladeshi musician Kazi Faisal Ahmed, guitarist for Metal Maze, had the privilege to join the legend on the stage with guitar as he started playing “Hazard,” narrating a town in the state of Nebraska, United States.
Marx sometimes took the guitar and sometimes sat on his piano throughout the show alongside little interactions filled with good humour.
In response to repeated requests for “Right Here Waiting For You,” Marx replied, “If I sing ‘Right Here Waiting For You‘ now, then you all will leave!” The audience burst into laughter.
The Grammy winner took the audience to a trance with the acoustic version of ‘When You Loved Me’.
Then came a pleasant surprise when the slideshow behind him showed his three sons Brandon, Lucas, and Jesse playing drums, piano and guitar respectively. He shared how his sons, all in their early 20s, are great at the instruments.
He didn’t have to sing much in the end as he kept playing the piano and the audience sang along the iconic romantic lyrics.
Creinse Limited organised the concert.
