The Old Dhaka betel leaf market

Retail traders from across the capital flock to the wholesale market for betel leaves and betel nuts in Old Dhaka’s Shyambazar to refill their stock. Traders across the country bring betel leaves and nuts to the market by the Buriganga River. The price for one large bunch of betel leaves ranges from Tk 7,000 to Tk 12,000 at the wholesale market.
