Harvesting paddy at Gumai Beel

Gumai Beel, the second-largest beel of Bangladesh in Rangunia with an area of about 3,000 hectares, is known as the silo of Chattogram. Farmers claim the harvest of a paddy season from the beel is enough to feed the entire population of the country for more than two days. They expect bumper production as harvest of the Amon season begins. Photo: Suman Babu
