Sadik Evan of bdnews24.com’s Hello wins Meena Media Award 2017

Sadik Evan of bdnews24.com’s platform of child journalists ‘Hello’ has clinched the Meena Media Award 2017 for one of his reports on children.

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu and the other guests presented the awards to the 49 winners at a ceremony at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka on Thursday.

UNICEF Representative in Bangladesh Edouard Beigbeder and Goodwill Ambassadors actor Arifa Zaman Moushumi and magician Jewel Aich were present among the guests.

Evan is this year’s first runner-up under the category for print and online media reports by below 18 years old journalists for his report titled ‘Shekhano Hochchhena Bhinno Dhormer Boondhuder Songe Achoron’ or ‘No Lesson on How to Behave with Friends from Different Religion’ on hello.bdnews24.com.

dhakapostbd.com’s Md Rajon Shikder won the first prize while Rabeya Borshi Anita of Dainik Bangladesh Bani became second runner-up under the category.

Besides the crests and certificates, Rajon, Evan and Anita received cheques of Tk 50,000, Tk 25,000 and Tk 15,000 respectively.

Under creative writing below 18 years in online and print media category, monthly Fulkunrhi’s Mim Nawshin Nawal Khan was placed first, monthly Mohona’s Mishkat Russel second and banglanews24.com’s Anika Tabassum third.

The 49 journalists were given the awards under 13 categories.

At the awards ceremony, Minister Inu said, “Razakars (collaborators of Pakistani forces during Liberation War) are the main enemy of our children and girls. They killed children, women in 1971.”

“You must always hate the Razakars as enemies of the country and keep them away from society,” he told the event.

He also said a cartoon will be made on the problems faced by the girls elder than Meena, the main character of the cartoon.
