CNN was the first to reject the advert titled 'America is Winning' on May 2, and NBC, ABC and CBS have joined it later.

Russian TV station RT has reported that the advert features faces of anchors of NBC, CNN, MSNBC, CBS and ABC with the caption 'FAKE NEWS' running across their faces.

“The mainstream media is not fake news, and therefore the ad is false,” the RT said quoting a CNN statement.

It said it would be prepared to accept it if the graphic was removed, the same condition as that put forward by NBC on Friday, according to the RT.

ABC said that the ad was a 'personal attack that did not meet guidelines'. CBS has not released a public comment.

Fox News and Fox Business Network, which have broadly supported Trump, have aired the advert.

British daily The Independent said Trump's election campaign spent $1.5 million to air the ad, which highlights Neil Gorsuch’s appointment to the Supreme Court, proposed tax cuts and the President's executive order in support of the Keystone pipeline.

Lara Trump, the daughter-in-law of the president and his consultant, said in a press release: “Apparently, the mainstream media are champions of the First Amendment only when it serves their own political views.

"Faced with an ad that doesn't fit their biased narrative, CNN, ABC, CBS, and NBC have now all chosen to block our ad. This is an unprecedented act of censorship in America that should concern every freedom-loving citizen," she added.
