Rain forecast as depression moves north-northwest

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department predicts light to moderate rain in parts of the country as a depression in the Bay of Bengal continues its path north-northwest.

Rain is forecast in most areas of Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions, and many areas of Rangpur.
 
According to a weather report, moderately heavy to heavy rainfall is likely over Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Dhaka over the next 24 hours.
 
Deep convection is taking place over the northern Bay of Bengal due to the depression. High winds may affect the North Bay, coastal regions and maritime ports.
 
The maximum sustained wind speed is 40-50 kmph within 44km of the depression’s centre.
 
Signal No. 3 is in effect at the Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra ports. All fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay have been advised to remain in shelter.
