The 66-year-old revered singer suffered the fourth cardiac arrest during his ongoing ailment at the Singapore General Hospital on Monday, doctor Samanta Lal Sen in Dhaka said.

The coordinator of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s burns unit is supervising Nandi’s treatment arrangements on instructions from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

“The condition of his health is not good at all. He suffered another heart attack on Monday. His organs have failed. Doctors are trying their best there," Samanta told bdnews24.com.

Doctors placed four stenting rings on him after he suffered a heart attack on Saturday morning, he added.

He was admitted to the hospital’s intensive care unit in a ‘critical’ condition, Samanta Sen said citing Nandi’s daughter Falguni Nandi.

Subir Nandi, an Ekushey Padak winner, was taken to Singapore on Apr 30.

He was first admitted to Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka on Apr 14 after he fell ill on his way to Dhaka from Sylhet.

He was shifted to the coronary care unit when his condition worsened. Later, he was put on life support.

Hasina then suggested he be sent to Singapore for advanced treatment.
