Noted singer Subir Nandi hospitalised

Noted singer Subir Nandi has been admitted to the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka as he fell ill.

His family admitted him to the CMH around 11pm on Sunday as he suffered a heart attack on his way to Dhaka from Sylhet. He was shifted to the coronary care unit later when his condition worsened, said Nandi's son-in-law Rajesh Shikder. 

"He was not in a good condition. The doctors kept him under close observation," he told bdnews24.com.

Nandi, 66, has been suffering from kidney ailment for long and was undergoing regular dialysis. The revered singer sang more than 2,500 songs in his four decades of career. He was awarded Ekushey Padak this year.

The artist was born in Baniachang Upazila in Habiganj on Nov 19, 1953.
