A top official of one of the sponsors of the programme, ‘Bangladeshi Nights’, confirmed the news of Anonno’s detention to bdnews24.com.

He said police detained Anonno at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday night and he was being interrogated now.

He was to be released until Monday afternoon, the sponsor said.

Several members of the Bangladeshi community in Kuala Lumpur told bdnews24.com that they heard 30 to 40 people, who were not involved with the programme, had been trafficked to Malaysia in exchange for money along with the artists.

Singers Asif Akbar, Ankhi Alamgir, HM Rana, models and actors Anika Kabir Shokh, Mamnun Hasan Emon, Sakhawat Hossain Nirob and Misty Zannat were among the performers of the show held at Wisma MCA Auditorium in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday night.
